Thank you for your interest in making a trip to Guatemala with us.
With the pandemic waning, we are now scheduling a trip to Guatemala September 25 through October 5, eight days, mid-week to mid-week, Wednesday through the following Wednesday. This includes two travel days; the arrival trip has flights followed by a 4-hour van ride. The return trip goes from our base in Quetzaltenango to the lovely colonial town of Antigua, staying overnight there because it is only an hour from the airport.
Travelers must be fully vaccinated (and preferably, boosted). A negative PCR test prior to boarding may be required, depending upon circumstances closer to the travel dates..
Accommodation is in a pleasant hotel in Quetzaltenango, the second largest city in Guatemala. There are restaurant breakfasts and dinners in the city with lunch in the village, hosted by local families.
Occasionally, one other trip in the calendar year may be taken, depending upon the need. This can happen anytime between March and early October.
We go up the mountain daily to the village of Nimasac, the site of our work. There are a LOT of meetings about every aspect of the work currently in progress. Sometimes we have meetings in Quetzaltenango with other partners, including NGOs (non-governmental organizations working in Guatemala), or staff.
We always have 1-2 translators traveling with us.
Please contact us via the contact form if you want to be updated. We'd love to have you join us! Trip costs are approximately $1,800 (depending upon current airfare), all inclusive, for eight days. This includes airfare, transportation, meals and hotels.
