Inflation and scarcity, coupled with a lackluster economy, has created continuing food insecurity in rural Guatemala. Food prices have skyrocketed there, as everywhere. Esperanza de Guatemala provided basic food (beans, rice, and cooking oil) to 200 families, a large increase over former distributions, on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Some of the recipients state that there is no money for needs and that times are hard. Esperanza responded to alleviate some of the need with help from regular supporters. We're grateful to be able to get food into the homes of Nimasac's neediest.
